Persian Rug Maintenance And Care

Persian rugs need to be treated as beautiful pieces of art.  If cleaned at home be careful to use a mild detergent that is friendly to the material that the rug is made from, usually wool or silk, and be sure that the detergent does not contain any bleach, because it will ruin your Persian rug leaving ugly faded patches.

The best way to clean a Persian rug is to take it to take it to a dry cleaning service that will use special vacuum cleaners with dry chemicals, saving your precious Persian rug from any type of damage that may come from using water or any type of detergent.

Vacuuming a Persian rug should also be done very carefully, because if you use a harsh brush you may remove wool threads, which in time will create a bald spot on your Persian carpet.  However, if you maintain your Persian rug with the proper care and maintenance, as indicated at the time of purchase, it will be handed down for quite a few generations.
